Completed in 2013, well before recent state-wide legislation allowed ADUs on any residential property, this compact vacation cottage met all the criteria for an ADU with the intention that a primary residence would be built adjacent to it someday. Stepping down the sloped site, a skylit, vaulted living room overlooks the valley and eucalyptus grove. Bedroom, service spaces, and a sleeping loft complete the plan, with kitchen and dining areas nestled into the hillside, lowering the building profile on the uphill side.
